CBD (Cannabidiol) is a compound found in the Cannabis plant. When it is extracted from the plant it is used in several different ways including vaping, tinctures, capsules, and edibles.
Unlike its close relative, THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol), CBD is completely non-psychoactive. This allows us to benefit from the many health properties of the Cannabis plant without the negative side effects of “getting high.”
The Cannabis family has several different breeds, yet it is most infamously known for marijuana (“weed”). This is the main reason why people confuse the term hemp with marijuana. Hemp actually refers to the industrial, non-drug variant that is cultivated for its fiber, hurd, seeds, and oil. While Hemp is the humble, less-known cousin of marijuana, it has recently been getting much more attention for being an amazing cannabinoid (CBD). The beneficial properties of hemp-derived CBD are numerous, and as it works with the human cannabinoid system It is thought to have an impact on hundred’s of biological conditions.
Because CBD interacts with the body’s Endocannabinoid System (ECS) to provide homeostasis naturally. Legally we cannot make any medical claims, but Significant research has been done to show that CBD and other cannabinoids play a major role in supporting health and wellness.
The main difference between CBD and THC is that CBD does not induce a high whereas THC does. THC, the psychoactive component of marijuana, induces sleep or drowsiness (a common effect of most strains of marijuana), whereas CBD does not. Another important note is that THC still remains illegal in certain states, CBD has been legalized across every state line.
